Most tiling on a property isn’t a renovation. It’s three cracked tiles in a laundry, a splashback that has come loose, a hallway with a few hollow-sounding tiles, or a shower where the grout has failed and some tiles have lifted with it.

Those jobs are too small for most bathroom renovators and too annoying to leave. We do them properly. Tiles are matched as closely as stock allows, old adhesive is cleaned back, and the joints are grouted and sealed so the repair holds.

Repair, Regrout or Retile?

A lot of tiling quotes start with the wrong job. If the tiles are sound and only the grout has cracked or gone mouldy, regrouting is faster and far cheaper. If a handful of tiles are cracked, they can usually be replaced on their own. Retiling makes sense when tiles are lifting across most of a wall or floor, or when there are signs of water getting behind them.

We look first and quote the smallest job that will last. Our guide on whether to regrout or retile a shower goes through the signs in more detail.

Tiling for Rentals and Commercial Sites

On a rental, a cracked tile is a trip hazard and a line on the condition report. Loose tiles in a wet area can also let water into the floor or wall behind them. We fix them between tenancies or around the renter, photograph the finished work and send the record to whoever manages the property. Our real estate maintenance service covers how that works for agents.

On commercial sites the same work covers amenities, kitchenettes, entries and lobbies, booked outside trading hours where needed. See our commercial and building maintenance page for the rest of what we do there.

Common Questions

Can you match my existing tiles?

Often, but not always. Common tiles are still easy to find. Older or discontinued tiles can be hard to match exactly, and if that’s the case we’ll show you the closest options before any work starts. Sometimes the neatest answer is to pull a few spares from a less visible spot, like inside a cupboard, and replace those with a near match.

Can you replace one cracked tile without redoing the floor?

Yes. A single tile can be cut out, the adhesive cleaned back and a new tile set in. It’s one of the most common tiling jobs we do.

Should I regrout or retile my shower?

If the tiles are firm and only the grout has failed, regrout. If tiles are loose, cracked across the wall or there are signs of water damage behind them, it may need retiling. We’ll check before quoting.

How quickly can you quote?

Most tiling quotes come back within 48 hours. A few photos and rough measurements are usually enough to price it.
